Some exciting stuff has been stacked In TP2 like Azure Queue storage & Azure Key Vault. Both are really very useful when it comes to application messaging and managing application secrets.

Uploading custom VHD in Azure using PowerShell

PowerShell script below will allow you  to upload your custom VHD image to Azure Subscription for example (Win 2008 Server) or other (Windows X version) VHD to upload. In this script just change the variables as per your custom choice (In my case i just mentioned as per my choice for example region is East Australia but you need to choose which suits you). Sequence of script is to ->Create Storage account->Upload custom VHD image in storage account container.

Techies, I am moving New Zealand in couple of upcoming months so this was my last session in Saudi Arabia. Platform as service is very powerful feature offered by Microsoft Azure. Instead of managing servers you can manage service only. Microsoft Azure PaaS – How To? Was conducted in Azeezia Rehab Area Jeddah – Saudi Arabia.

Migration of Meeting WorkSpace from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2013

Here is limitation by Microsoft….Meeting work spaces has been depreciated in SP 2013.

Sites created using the Meeting Workspace site templates that are upgraded to the SharePoint 2013 user experience will no longer operate in SharePoint 2013. In the event continued use is necessary while a migration plan is determined, sites using the Meeting Workspace site template should be operated in SharePoint 2010 mode. Client integration features when operating in SharePoint 2010 mode require a 2010 version of the Microsoft Office client. The Meeting Workspace site templates will be removed completely from the next major release of SharePoint and sites that were created by using the Meeting Workspace site templates will not be supported.

Solution:

You can migrate existing meeting workspaces in this way

• 1.       Create a “site template” having list of “attendees”, “Meeting Docs”, “Agenda description”.
• 2.       Your meeting space must have more than one meetings there that’s why you need to create one template (reusable every time)
• 3.       Create new site every time under one site and start putting all docs and list to new site (New site will be same you previously set as template)
• 4.       Using content deployment wizard to move the list and libraries…coz if u use this utility it will bring your meta data along docs and list items …..meta data mean…..name, date, author etc of docs.

Today i visited the Stefan Gobner blog and found very good info.

The KB articles for April CU can be found at the following locations (they should be available in a couple of days):

• KB 2598130 - WSS 3.0
• KB 2598129 - MOSS 2007
• KB 2598321 - SharePoint Foundation 2010
• KB 2598151 - SharePoint Server 2010
• KB 2598152 - SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server
  As you see there is a separate Full Server Package for SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server which simplifies patching of this common installation.

The Full Server Packages for April 2012 CU are available through the following links:

• Download WSS 3.0 April 2012 CU
• Download MOSS 2007 April 2012 CU
• Download SharePoint Foundation 2010 April 2012 CU
• Download SharePoint Server 2010 April 2012 CU
• Download SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server April 2012 CU
  After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.
